In Minnesota, you cannot be fired for making a workers’ compensation claim or seeking workers’ compensation benefits. There’s specifically a statute in the Workers’ Compensation Act that prohibits employers. Now, really what that means is can they? Yeah, they can, but there’s a legal remedy that you have if they do, and what I always tell peoples is if they’re that stupid to do that or if they’re that foolish to fire you just for seeking workers’ compensation benefits, you have remedies, and at the end of the day, they will pay for that. So – but most employers are sophisticated enough and know the system well enough to know that they cannot, by law, fire somebody, threaten to fire, or intentionally obstruct somebody from seeking workers’ compensation benefits in Minnesota.
