We’re pretty good at it. I try not to take cases that I can’t get a result in. Now, when I say result, I’m not talking about winning all the time. I’m talking about at least having a good theory of liability. To me, it goes back to my mother saying, “Stand your ground.” We stand our ground, no matter what. If we think we’re right, we stand our ground, and something’s going to happen. Either you’re going to win or the lamp post is going to fall on you. But it doesn’t matter because we’re standing our ground for what we believe is the right thing for our client. I think that’s what clients want more than anything else—someone who’s going to fight for them, who’s going to stand their ground for them, and not necessarily back down because the insurance company is too big or because someone is too powerful, or they have too many lawyers in their firm. Whatever the case, we believe in fighting and standing our ground for our clients.
St. Louis, MO personal injury attorney Herman Jimerson talks about his experience handling slip and fall cases. He says they’re pretty good at it and try not to take cases where they can’t achieve a result. When they say “result,” they’re not talking about winning every time, but at least having a solid theory of liability. For them, it goes back to a lesson learned from their mother: “Stand your ground.” No matter what, they stand their ground. If they believe they’re right, they stick to it, knowing that something will happen—either they will win, or the metaphorical lamppost will fall on them. But it doesn’t matter, because they’re standing their ground for what they believe is the right thing for their client. What clients want most, they believe, is someone who will fight for them, stand their ground, and not back down, even if the insurance company is too big or the opposition is too powerful or has too many lawyers. No matter the challenge, they’re committed to fighting and standing their ground for their clients.
