Criminal sexual conduct is a crime where either the person is too young, and too young to consent, or there isn’t consent. That’s basically the gist of it. And they’re very, very difficult cases. In fact, they’re tougher cases than murder cases. In a murder case the jury is, “Oh, I want to see what happened.” In a criminal sexual conduct case they look at that person sitting next to you in that defendant’s chair at counsel table with the eye like, “What did he do and why is he here?” You don’t get the presumption of innocence. And so that’s what makes them all the more difficult than any other kind of case.
