People interact with products all during the course of their work day, their school day, and manufacturers are responsible if something goes wrong with the product. We had a case where kids in the local high school were doing a cooking class using a propane canister stove in the classroom and the propane canister blew up, burning half a dozen of the kids very badly. The canister was manufactured overseas by a company that we could never find and would never be able to bring to the United States to – for justice. We were able to get intermediaries and the retailer of the canister and bring them into court and maintain that lawsuit on behalf of the families for the defect that was clearly in the canister and we were able to demonstrate the failure each step of the way for everybody who handled this canister, who were going to make money selling the canister, distributing the canister, their absence of inspection, their absence of checking to make sure that they had a reliable product. We were able to take that case and litigate it through a couple of years and get a very nice result for all of the families there.

Los Angeles, CA personal injury attorney John Taylor talks about a terrible incident that occurred in a school classroom. He explains that throughout the course of their daily activities, people come into contact with various products, whether at work or school. Manufacturers bear the responsibility when these products fail and cause harm. We encountered a case involving a local high school where students were using a propane canister stove for a cooking class. Tragically, the propane canister unexpectedly exploded, resulting in severe burns for several students.
The canister in question had been manufactured overseas by a company that proved impossible to locate and bring to justice in the United States. However, we were able to identify intermediaries and the retailer responsible for distributing the canister, and we pursued a lawsuit on behalf of the affected families. Our focus was on highlighting the evident defect in the canister and demonstrating the negligence at each stage of its handling. This encompassed the entities involved in selling, distributing, and inspecting the canister, who had failed to ensure the product’s reliability.
Over the course of several years, we diligently litigated the case and ultimately obtained a favorable outcome for all the families involved. Despite the challenges presented by the overseas manufacturer’s absence, we were able to secure a resolution that provided substantial relief for the affected families.
