the probate process in Colorado is a
mandatory six-month period which sounds
really fun but that’s actually the
quickest probate in the United States
some states Take Years A lot of people
don’t understand that every state you
own a piece of property in you have to
go through that State’s probate so that
can extend the time that it takes to go
through Colorado’s probate if there’s
property you know in California or
Arizona or you know maybe Iowa where I’m
from but six months is the minimum the
average probate’s probably between six
months and a year
Northglenn, CO estate planning & probate attorney Jeff Althaus talks how long the probate process typically takes in CO. He explains that the probate process in Colorado is mandatory and lasts for a period of six months. While it may not sound particularly exciting, it is actually one of the quickest probate processes in the United States. It’s important to understand that when you own property in multiple states, you will need to go through each state’s probate process, which can extend the overall duration of the probate process in Colorado. For example, if you own property in California, Arizona, or even Iowa (my home state), the probate process will take longer. Six months is the minimum required duration, and on average, probate in Colorado typically takes between six months and a year to complete.
