Denver, CO personal injury attorney George McLaughlin talks about what companies make pressure cookers that have exploded. In the realm of pressure cookers, two main styles are prominent: stove-top pressure cookers and electric pressure cookers. The former resembles a conventional pot placed on a stove but is distinguished by its locking lid. In contrast, the latter, a more contemporary choice, integrates the heating element into the appliance, presenting a self-contained system with a pressure vessel and locking lid. The market boasts over 100 brand names for electric pressure cookers, with the Instant Pot standing out as one of the most recognized. Numerous companies, including Sunbeam, Crock-Pot, TriStar, and Emeril Lagasse, contribute to the production of similar appliances.
Despite the array of brand names, these electric pressure cookers share commonalities in appearance and functionality, primarily manufactured by a select group of companies in China. Widespread issues, cutting across different brands, have been documented. Notably, instances involving Instant Pot highlight a recurring problem with the lid-locking mechanism, susceptible to manual defeat. This vulnerability allows users to open the lid while the appliance is pressurized, leading to the lid blowing off and the contents erupting. Such incidents have resulted in injuries. Sunbeam, recognizing this concern, initiated a recall for products falling within specific date ranges and model numbers. To address the issue, replacement lids were offered to affected customers.
