Being board certified means that you have taken a test and you’ve demonstrated some proficiency with some of the technical aspects of being a family law attorney. It also signifies that you have a certain level of experience. You’ve handled a certain number of cases. You’ve handled certain types of cases in adhering to jury trials. There’s been some appellate work. There’s been a certain number of bench trials, and so it’s just a sign that somebody has demonstrated experience and the ability to master a test for some of the technical aspects of family law.
