A judge who was a longtime mentor to me, now retired, but was on the bench for decades used to say, “Well, it’s time to find out who loves you.” The serious answer is how can you afford not to hire an attorney. What happens in your criminal case may affect you and it may affect you in your career for decades and how can you afford not to. And if you do not have the money in your checking or savings account or in your sock drawer at home, perhaps its time and sometimes it’s embarrassing for people to go to their parents or to go to other family members or other people who are close to them and say do you have enough faith in my to help me at this terrible time. But my question is can you afford not to do that?
