Las Vegas, NV personal injury attorney Keith E. Galliher shares the most common advice he gives to clients and talks about his background and experience. When clients meet with him, he begins by emphasizing the importance of honesty. He advises them to always provide truthful answers to questions, whether with his firm or the insurance carrier. He cautions against exaggeration or embellishment, as integrity is crucial in personal injury cases.
In today’s digital age, he also strongly warns clients against discussing their cases on social media. He explains that many young people feel compelled to share details of their lives online, but this can backfire in a personal injury case. Defense attorneys and insurance carriers monitor social media and often gather posts as evidence. When a lawsuit is filed, it’s not uncommon for defense teams to present dozens of pages of a client’s Facebook or Instagram posts discussing the case—an error that can seriously harm the client’s claim. To prevent this, he not only advises clients in person but also sends a formal letter urging them to refrain from posting anything related to their case online.
Reflecting on his career, he notes a diverse professional background before becoming a lawyer. He worked as the Director of Public Relations at the Mint Hotel in downtown Las Vegas and served as maître d’ at the Piazza Restaurant in Caesars Palace. After law school, he gained experience at the largest civil firm in the state and as a deputy public defender, where he tried criminal cases.
He later formed his own law practice, initially building a firm, then transitioning to solo work with associates. Over the years, he has handled nearly every type of legal case but decided over 40 years ago to focus exclusively on personal injury law. Representing injured individuals against insurance companies has been the most fulfilling aspect of his career, and it remains his primary focus to this day.
