so i’m a cpa in addition to an attorney
um and some people ask hey why do you
need a an accountant when it comes to
divorce law you know this is all about
kids but actually
it has a lot to do about money and my
background originally is
i was a forensic accountant for about
four years and that was after law school
i really enjoyed that type of work and i
was doing that for a lot of matrimonials
we were looking into the books and
records of people trying to figure out
if there was misappropriation of funds
trying to identify assets understanding
the universe of estates so i worked for
an accounting firm
that had lawyers who were forensic
accountants who would do that for
matrimonials fraud investigations all
sorts of work and i was doing that a lot
for matrimonials specifically for mr
clare and he said hey do you like this
whiteboard come join me as a matrimonial
attorney
i said really and he said yeah you can
do this for me and
you’ll enjoy it a lot more doing it in
the context of seeing the entire case so
i went from being a forensic accountant
to a divorce lawyer
and i’m able to use my skills as an
accountant and a former forensic
accountant to really understand the
assets in a case that helps me and helps
our client and really helps our team
here to to get a hold of what we’re
dealing with and i’m able to communicate
with our experts and our other
accountants because i speak their
language so to speak
um and i’m able to understand what they
want and what we need to give them to
maximize the benefit for our client
