i became a lawyer
00:06
because as cliche as it sounds i really
00:09
like helping people
00:10
and i like solving problems so being a
00:13
lawyer lets me
00:14
do both of those i enjoy the
00:16
complexities of
00:18
trying to figure out what the best
00:19
solution is but i would say the
00:22
motivating
00:23
factor for me going to actually going to
00:26
law school
00:27
was the fact that when i was 19 i was in
00:29
a serious car accident and i had very
00:31
good lawyers
00:32
that helped me get through the legal
00:34
process and
00:36
were advocating for me but there were
00:38
things
00:39
as i reflected on it that i thought i
00:41
could have someone could have explained
00:43
it to me a little bit better
00:44
or they could have made me feel a little
00:47
bit more comfortable with the process
00:49
it was completely foreign and so i
00:51
thought you know this is the perfect
00:53
solution for me i can do that i can
00:55
actually go and i can help people
00:57
get through those processes help them
01:00
figure out the best solution
01:02
that we can achieve for them at that
01:04
moment so that’s really why i
01:06
decided to do it decide to become a
01:09
[Music]
01:10
lawyer
01:13
so i’d say my philosophy is three-fold
01:16
first it’s very important to me that i
01:19
explain
01:20
everything to the client and the client
01:22
and i understand
01:23
the process understand the pot possible
01:27
options for them the terminology
01:30
even so that so that’s the first thing i
01:32
consider in a
01:33
case is making sure the client
01:35
understands what they’re facing
01:38
or what steps they want to take and the
01:40
second
01:41
part of my philosophy is that i
01:43
strategize
01:44
with the client and i i decide you know
01:47
what that what i think the best options
01:49
are and then i
01:49
talk to them about that and make sure
01:51
the client is comfortable with the
01:53
strategy because
01:54
it’s their life they have to live it
01:56
they have to live with the consequences
01:58
of the decisions we make
01:59
they have to assist in those decisions
02:02
so
02:03
it’s very important to me when i’m
02:04
representing someone
02:06
not only that they understand what
02:08
they’re working on but also that they’re
02:10
comfortable with that strategy
02:12
and then the third aspect of
02:15
a case for me the third thing i really
02:17
try to focus on is
02:18
achieving that best outcome sometimes
02:22
that outcome is not what
02:23
the client thinks it’s going to be when
02:25
we start but
02:27
my philosophy is to try to achieve the
02:28
best outcome
02:30
that we can achieve for that client at
02:33
that particular time
02:34
given the circumstances in their
02:36
particular case
