i became an estate attorney
00:06
um for really a personal story my
00:10
grandfather passed away my first year of
00:13
law school at the ripe old age of 89.
00:15
he was a farmer and he was on a tractor
00:18
until the day he died
00:19
he absolutely loved it but he named my
00:22
mother as the executor
00:24
i was going through law school so i just
00:25
began to do some research and
00:27
it it took three years to get the estate
00:30
wrapped up
00:32
and the communication was not great
00:34
between my mother and her siblings
00:36
and by the end of it she
00:40
uh really didn’t have much of a
00:41
relationship with them anymore it’s just
00:43
a not a great experience and
00:45
i thought that the estate attorney who
00:47
took care of them had uh
00:49
done something wrong or maybe committed
00:51
malpractice even and i began to look
00:53
into it and realized
00:54
this actually wasn’t the case what he
00:57
did is pretty typical in
00:59
in estate planning and probate
01:00
administration
01:02
you know looking into it i just thought
01:03
you know what i i think i can do better
01:05
than this for families we can
01:07
we can have a plan that’s going to get
01:09
them through it quickly
01:10
uh easily and cost effectively and i
01:13
think the faster you can get through it
01:15
the more
01:16
uh likelihood it’s going to be an easier
01:18
process on the family
01:20
and i’m very proud to say that’s what
01:21
we’ve accomplished up to this point
01:23
our clients have been very good to us
01:24
and
01:26
written great reviews and and we take a
01:28
lot of pride in
01:30
uh and being able to practice in this
01:32
area
01:34
[Music]
01:38
so i was very blessed um the university
01:40
of texas school of law
01:42
gave me a great scholarship they’re a
01:44
top-ranked
01:46
law school in the country they have some
01:48
wonderful professors that i
01:50
studied under and just really equipped
01:53
me to
01:54
uh branch off into estate planning
01:56
quickly and
01:57
my first year out i i had you know
01:59
several hundred families and clients
02:01
that i worked with and
02:02
we have worked with several hundred
02:05
families and clients every single year
02:07
since so
02:08
specializing in only the area of a state
02:11
law
02:12
really allows me to get a lot of
02:15
experience with a lot of different
02:18
topics and issues that come up so at
02:20
this point there’s
02:21
not much i haven’t seen we we have if
02:24
it’s ever happened in an estate case
02:25
i’ve had to figure it out and deal with
02:27
it up to this point
