the one piece of advice I repeatedly
give to clients I guess the real factor
is whether they listen to it or not is
putting beneficiary designations on
their bank accounts retirement funds
life insurance policies and the main
reason for such is that’s one of the
ways we go through the Probate Court the
court overseeing the distribution of
property and so putting those
beneficiaries on there is highly
important to ensure those accounts get
where they want them to go
I mean I could talk all day about what
it takes to not only be a good attorney
but especially in the estate planning
realm I think the most important thing
is compassion and caring we’re in an
industry where people may have lost
someone or they’re uncomfortable talking
about the topic of death and just being
able to relate and understand what
they’re going through is highly
important a lot of times more important
even the ability to explain the legal
work is just being able to relate to
them and make them feel comfortable in
an uncomfortable situation
