some of the most important things that

come to mind one is empathy a lot of the

clients we work with are either

investors who have lost their life

savings or their younger investors

saving for a house that they lost their

down payment and the money they were

going to use for that so they’re in a

really vulnerable place so I think

empathy is super important to be able to

connect with the clients and do the best

job of serving them we need to make sure

that while the client is in a vulnerable

place uh we’re going to be their Rock

for them in the legal field I think

another really important quality for a

Securities attorney is resilience

arbitration which we mostly work in it’s

a little bit shorter than litigation yes

but it’s still a long haul and you need

to be on the ball and in it for uh your

client till the end there’s going to be

a lot of Milestones along that Journey

but you really just have to stay focused

and resilient throughout to make sure

that you represent your client as best

you can the next thing and maybe the

final point I’ll mention is initiative I

think finance and the financial services

industry is one of the most dynamic in

the world and it’s constantly changing

as a Securities attorney if you lose

track of the new developments in the

industry and what your clients are going

to be getting into you risk not being

able to serve clients that you normally

would be able to

thank you

I think there’s two primary things that

prepared me to succeed in a role as a

Securities attorney first and foremost

was my undergrad education

um I went to Villanova business school

where I majored in finance and the

curriculum that I was exposed to there

um really prepared me to succeed in this

role I took many classes involving

Finance accounting anything you can

imagine in the business world and those

classes have really paid dividends for

me in my practice now not only did it

give me a baseline of you know the ins

and outs of the financial services

industry but it taught me to have

problem solve in that context as well I

think another thing that really prepared

me for working as a Securities attorney

was my experience in the Securities

arbitration clinic at my Law School New

York law school I was lucky enough to

intern here at Malecki law for six

months while I was in law school and

first and foremost it opened my eyes to

practicing as a litigation or

arbitration attorney but it also gave me

real world experience that I continue to

lean on to this day
