I think most importantly, and I have stuck to this, is the ability to have an open, candid, and many times difficult conversation with a client. Being able to sit down across from a client and explain the particular circumstances, whether it’s good news or bad news, and being able to explain to the client why that is going to affect, whether, again, good or bad, beneficially, detrimentally their particular situation, and have the client understand it, recognize it is important. Especially because having those difficult conversations is what’s gonna help inform the client when they ultimately have to make a decision in the case.
If they don’t have accurate information, if they don’t have that bad news, as difficult as it is to give to the client, then they’re not gonna be able to make an informed decision. And so I think having or being able to have an open, candid relationship with the client is the most important thing.
