Again, early on my career I made somewhat of a conscious decision that I wanted to have a transactional side of my practice as well as the litigation to I think help supplement the litigation side of my practice. When you’re in the middle of litigation, one thing I found very helpful is the fact that because I’ve been on the other side of the deal, because I’ve been involved in certain transactions, whether it’s negotiating an acquisition or a merger or helping clients form a new company or start up a new company, knowing what the clients go through, knowing what’s involved in those transactions I think also helps inform how you proceed in the litigation itself that follows.

Too many times you have people that are just classically litigators. That all they do. And that’s fine and there’s certainly nothing wrong with that, but having that experience of being involved in the transaction I think ultimately helps inform you and help inform the client on how you’re gonna handle a particular piece of litigation.
