I’ve handled cases in the past where doctors were over prescribing opioids to patients for a variety of reasons, whether it was for their own personal financial gain or because it was much easier to give the patient medication than deal with the underlying problem.
This is a national epidemic. It is, that’s not news to anybody. It does not discriminate in terms of neighborhood, age, race, gender, it is a problem throughout our society and there are many, many of these cases where the patients are addicted and the prescribers are not dealing with it in a manner to allow the patients to live full, and quite frankly, better lives.
