collaborative law is a little bit
different you’re trying to resolve your
divorce in a collaborative fashion
instead of being in conflict with each
other so one of the necessary
ingredients is your commitment to be
respectful in your communication with
each
other and to be committed to not
litigating but to working things out out
so that everybody gets heard on their
concerns and on their goals and try to
achieve those goals and I think you need
a good team of Professionals in a good
in a collaborative session you need a
good lawyer that has a different kind of
advocacy lawyers are trained to fight it
out but in collaborative what you’re
trying to do is you’re trying to
advocate for your client by teaching
them educating them on what their
options could be helping them explore
things that help them make a decision
because this is very client centered
it’s focused on how to help both parties
achieve what they you know what they
want to achieve in their divorce and so
a good team of professionals it includes
also a financial neutral person that
helps them with their budget and also
with their assets and debts and
accumulating all the information about
it it also includes a mental health
coach which is someone that helps
them um communicate better with each
other it helps deal with the emotional
aspects because in divorce is always you
know there’s always the emotional
component you got to pay attention to it
also helps facilit at Communication in a
respectful manner so you have a whole
team of people that’s helping the two
parties try to get a good result that
works for them and those are I think the
necessary ingredients the only other
thing I can think of is honesty and
fairness in Fair dealing too because
you’re informally exchanging information
although you will swear to it that you
know you’ve disclosed everything
but you still have to be um doing the
work and being fair to the other side
