What the McBride case did is it strengthened again the fact that railroad workers have a right to a safe place to work and safe equipment. And the amount of proof that they have to have to show that the railroads negligence or violation of that statute caused a certain injury is much lighter burden of proof than generally occurs in tort law in America. So the reason that makes things better is railroads operate on money and if they’re paying more money to injured people hopefully that will make them safer, they’ll make conditions safer, they’ll fix the problems and make it safer not only for workers but for the general public.
