00:16
family law trials in the state of
00:17
minnesota or probably elsewhere
00:20
there was business to be valued there
00:23
were retirement accounts there was some
00:25
non-marital assets
00:26
the
00:28
spouse in this case was claiming that
00:30
she shouldn’t have to work so we ended
00:32
up bringing a motion to
00:34
seek a vocational evaluation which we
00:37
were successful in and the vocational
00:39
evaluation was very helpful in

determining spousal maintenance in this

case
Eagan, MN family law attorney, Susan M. Gallagher shares the story of a memorable high net-worth case she handled. As she explains, the trial lasted an extraordinary 13 days, which is rare for family law cases in Minnesota or elsewhere. During the trial, we had to value the business, examine retirement accounts, and assess some non-marital assets. The client I was representing argued that she shouldn’t have to work, so we filed a motion to request a vocational evaluation. We succeeded in obtaining the evaluation, which proved to be very useful in determining the amount of spousal maintenance in this case.
