When it’s a blended family, the important thing that – the important discussion that should take place between two parents is how each one of the parents wants to treat the step children or the other parent’s children. Often times they’ll elect to treat them as their own, in which case it’s relatively easy to set up a plan that provides for equal distribution to both biological and step children.
If they want them to go on separate directions, then there’s specific language that we’ll use that will allow one spouses assets to go to their children, the other spouses assets to go to their children. Another really important tool in that case is a pre-nup or an anti-nuptial agreement, which will help insure that the assets will pass in – to each parent’s children.
