I typically will suggest to my clients that you’ll have your estate plan revisited either when there’s a major tax change that would affect or could affect your estate plan. If there’s a major change in your life: having children, your executor passing away, major differences to the document that’s been written. And the last one is just time. If eight, seven, eight, 10years go by, it’s always a good idea to dust off your estate plan, take a look at it, and make sure all the things that you’ve said eight, seven, 10 years ago still remain, and if they don’t, it’s a good day to revisit them.
Fairfax, VA estate planning attorney Christopher T. Craig talks about how often you should review your estate plan.
