The best way to avoid employment law disputes is to do two things. One is to get some advice before the problem happens. So make sure you seek the advice of a lawyer to look at your policies and procedures. Look at your employment agreements before you put those into place. And then once that happens, I think a lot of employers miss an opportunity to avoid a dispute by not doing an exit interview. And they’re uncomfortable, they’re hard to do, it doesn’t matter whether the employee was terminated or the employee left to advance the employee’s career. That exit interview can help avoid a lot of problems if it’s done well.
