The most critical part of any DWI is to make sure you fight it and fight it quickly. The system is actually designed to trick you. Often times a police officer will give you a notice of your first appearance in court and it’ll be 45 days from the day of the arrest. He’s not scheduling it 45 days out because we’re not having court during those 45 days. He knows that if he can trick you into sitting on your hands and letting the 30-day period to challenge your license revocation slip by, it doesn’t matter what happens in your DWI case, you already have a DWI permanently on your driving record. So the most important thing is don’t fall for the trap. Get in and see a lawyer as soon as you’ve been charged because that time, that 30-day time is ticking away from the moment the officer puts the notice and order of license revocation in your hand. And that’s why you need to hire a lawyer and hire a lawyer quickly.
