This is an interesting little conflict in Minnesota law because there is a statute that says you have to have two functioning headlights, one on either side of the car, but there’s another statute that says that all of the equipment on your vehicle has to be in working order. So even though the law doesn’t require you to have four headlights, if you have four headlights, all four of them have to be working. And that’s true for any equipment that’s on your car. So if you have – your brake lights happen to be four bulbs and one of the four isn’t working, even though the brake lights are working and even though the minimum standard has been met for brake lights, once again, because there is equipment on your car that clearly isn’t working, under Minnesota law, that’s a legitimate reason to pull you over. So let’s make sure it’s all working.
