We’ve done about as many construction site accident cases as anyone. We’ve been doing those sorts of cases for 40-50 years all told if you include my father’s career before he started his own firm. I settled a case for a million dollars about a year ago involving a gentleman who was working on a roof and tripped over a nail that one of the other contractors had left on the roof, and fell off the roof, suffered a spinal cord injury. It was not clear whether the contractor that caused the accident had any insurance so we ended up litigating that case for three or four years.
And we had to issue a subpoena to the company’s insurance broker. It was a long, convoluted process of eventually finding an insurance policy that applied to this accident and we were able to recover the entire insurance policy limits of a million dollars. But it was one of those cases where it would have been easy to give up along the way because the case sort of looked hopeless but we were eventually able to turn it into something.
Torrance, CA personal injury attorney Roger Booth talks about a specific construction case he worked on for a long time that became worth the hard work. He explains that we have extensive experience handling construction site accident cases, spanning over several decades, including my father’s career prior to establishing our own firm. We have tackled numerous cases in this area and accumulated a wealth of knowledge and expertise. One notable case I settled approximately a year ago involved a gentleman who suffered a spinal cord injury while working on a roof.
The accident occurred when he tripped over a nail left on the roof by another contractor. Initially, it was unclear whether the responsible contractor had any insurance coverage. Consequently, we embarked on a three to four-year litigation process. Throughout this arduous journey, we had to issue a subpoena to the company’s insurance broker, unraveling a complex web of insurance policies.
Persistently pursuing all possible leads, we eventually identified an insurance policy that applied to the accident. Remarkably, we successfully recovered the full insurance policy limits, amounting to a million dollars. This case serves as a prime example of the challenges we faced and the determination required to achieve a favorable outcome. Despite the initial appearance of hopelessness, we persevered, turning what seemed like an insurmountable situation into a successful resolution.
