That’s a difficult question to answer, because oftentimes the person with the brain injury is the last one to know, and so, getting competent medical care early on is very important. There are very subtle changes, especially if there is a frontal lobe injury with your organizational abilities. Your abilities to remember phone numbers and to remember birth dates. And that executive function can be impaired so that you don’t even realize that you’ve got a brain injury. So family members can be very important in terms of getting the appropriate medical care, but also getting the legal care you need is important as well along the way.
