My advice for parents of children who have sustained a birth injury is first, you want to hope for the best for your child but you need to plan for the worst. I, myself, am a father of a child with special needs so I know and understand the worries that those parents have at night and what keeps them up. Concerns of what type of life is my child going to have? What’s going to happen to my child if I should pass? If I were to leave or pass on would I be burdening my other children with having to take care of this child who I love and presents a lot of challenges, will I be leaving them with beings and capabilities to take care of that kid?
As a parent of child with special needs I understand what they go through and my advice is, is that you’re going to love that child no more, no less than any of your other children. That kid is a very special blessing that you have and one thing you want to do is continue to fight for that child. I know that parent is out there fighting for their child but to the extent you can, you know work with the school systems, try to get more services and therapies for your child.
And if you should suspect that your child was injured as a result of negligence, you know, contact a lawyer, contact our firm, and we will look into it for you because our goal would to be to fight for you and your child and to try to help lessen those worries and those struggles and challenges that raising a child with special needs present.
