James H. Stilwell

James H. Stilwell, the Managing Partner and Co-Founder of the law firm, possesses a diverse skill set encompassing litigation, estate planning, and business transactions. He holds an esteemed “AV” rating from Martindale-Hubbel, reflecting his exceptional expertise and ethical standards. James has been recognized as one of Texas’ top-ranked lawyers in his areas of practice and maintains a perfect 10.0 rating on the AVVO platform. His work in Will and Trust litigation garnered recognition as a “Super Lawyer” by Thompson Reuters in 2009-2010. Additionally, James is an accomplished appellate lawyer, with numerous published opinions by various Texas Appellate Courts, including the Texas Supreme Court.

Beyond his legal accomplishments, James actively serves his community. He has held notable positions such as Chairman of Leadership Montgomery County, Chairman of the Woodlands Area Chamber of Commerce, and Founding Director of The Woodlands Charities, Inc. He also contributes as Vice President of The Woodlands Bar Association, a member of the Memorial Hermann-The Woodlands Medical Center Advisory Board, and has been involved with various non-profit organizations in and around Montgomery County, Texas. James is deeply committed to his church and has assumed leadership roles both locally and within the Houston-North District of the United Methodist Church. He has served as a Delegate to the Texas Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church.

James is married to Janet, an ordained deacon in the United Methodist Church, and they have two adult daughters named Sarah and Maggie.
