Jeff Althaus, a proud native of Iowa and a devoted Hawkeye, pursued his education at the University of Iowa, where he majored in Business/Marketing and obtained a certificate in Entrepreneurship. After completing his undergraduate studies, he continued his journey at Hamline Law in Minnesota, earning his law degree. Eventually, he settled in Thornton, Colorado, while maintaining his allegiance to the Broncos and refraining from cheering for the Vikings.
Outside of his professional endeavors, Jeff finds solace in the breathtaking outdoors of Colorado. He embraces activities such as skiing, snowboarding, hiking, camping, and backpacking. Additionally, he is an avid supporter of the Denver Nuggets and frequently attends their games at the Pepsi Center. Jeff holds his spiritual life dear and is an active member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary church in Thornton, valuing individuals from diverse faith backgrounds.
With an extensive background in estate planning and probate matters, Jeff previously served in the Office of the Deputy Public Administrator. This lesser-known office tackles complex issues related to probate, guardianship/conservatorship, and estates. During his tenure, Jeff witnessed families torn apart by inheritance disputes and encountered numerous heart-wrenching situations. Inspired by these experiences, he has made it his mission to prevent others from enduring such circumstances. By employing effective estate planning techniques, including wills, trusts, and powers of attorney, he believes that these conflicts can be avoided, sparing families from court battles.
To raise awareness about the significance of estate planning, Jeff authored a book titled “You Only Die Once,” which achieved bestseller status on Amazon Kindle. This book has provided invaluable guidance to numerous individuals facing challenging conversations, and it may offer assistance to your family as well.
Founded by attorney Jeff Althaus, Althaus Law aims to empower families to plan for their futures by utilizing proven estate planning strategies and leveraging applicable tax benefits. The firm also upholds a deep commitment to giving back to Colorado communities, as a portion of its profits is consistently donated to local charities and nonprofit organizations—an endeavor close to the heart of its founder.
